Morocco
“Simply the nicest place on Earth to spend an afternoon”
In January of 2008 I accompanied my mom on a two week long trip to Morocco. We went all around the country, Casablanca, Rabat, Fez, Marrakech, just to name a few cities. We spent 3 nights in the Sahara near a local Berber community where we helped bring in water from a well. And we spent an awesome morning in a hot air balloon. Back then I was just getting my feet wet as a photographer. I didn't really know who I was, but I knew I wanted to be like the National Geographic photographers I had grown up admiring. I took a lot of pictures trying my hardest to really give a sense of what Morocco was like. I only had one camera, one lens (50mm equivalent), and maybe 3 small memory cards. I had never been to an Islamic country before and I didn't know what to expect. But what I came away with is still some of my favorite work to date. As we in the US struggle with some of the same unfounded fears we had of Muslims 7 years ago, I thought it was a good time to revisit my old friends and my Morocco. Enjoy.
