In the late 2000’s I was a maintenance man for a residential building downtown. We had just hired a new guy to join our crew and he hailed from Cordoba, Argentina. Over the next few years working with him we became good friends, brothers really. Being so far away from his family, we shared Christmas’s and other holidays here in Chicago. Years would pass, he ended up moving back to Cordoba, and me 2 jobs later I was miserable and looking for a change. So in late 2013 I quit my job and planned a 45 day trip that took he and I from Cordoba around Argentina, Chile, and Peru, ending the trip with a bucket list adventure hiking the Inka Trail to Machu Picchu. When I came back to the US I would fully immerse myself in my photography career, and thats been me ever since.
South America and the adventures had there, were transformative. Both my friend and I pushed ourselves every day to find experiences, talk to strangers, and put to rest the monotony that had been so prevalent in the years before. I will always treasure this trip, his friendship, and the images I’m able to share, as just a small taste of whats out there.
