Last year my friend Mike and I went on a road trip in South Dakota around April 1st and we got caught in a blizzard. Well I just got word that a blizzard just hit Rapid City today. So here is a snowy photo of some deer in South Dakota for all my friends enjoying a May blizzard.
Another South Dakota Landscape
It's easy to get discouraged. My friend Mike and I were driving west towards Badlands National Park. We still had 3 hours to go when we drove under a very ominous looking cloud. Sure enough, we hit the blizzard everyone had told us was coming. We couldn't picture our trip being interrupted by mother nature, but there we were surrounded by snow.
In times like that it's easy to lose hope, turn around, and go home. But stubbornly (or stupidly depending on your viewpoint) we forged ahead. And our reward was to see a beautiful part of the country in a way few tourists get to.
Blizzard in the Badlands - 20 days ago
I took a jog today, it was a beautiful 75 degree spring day. But only 20 days ago, it was April Fools in the Badlands. We were caught in a blizzard. Lucky for us, it was beautiful.
